A number of our faculty and postgraduate students have received major research grants from the DAAD and National Research Fund which you can read about in this newsletter. These are significant achievements that provide excellent opportunities for our students to engage in basic and applied research. A number of our students have also been involved in different Cyber Security boot camps and hackerthons sponsored by different International organizations such as IBM where they managed to scoop first and third positions this year. Our School has also partnered with various stakeholders in enhancing quality of the educational services that we offer. Our collaborators includes; Commonwealth of Learning, University of Cambridge, Africa China Business Forum (ACBF), ISACA, IBM, CISCO.

During this year, the Center for eLearning which is domiciled within our School in collaboration with Commonwealth of Learning (COL) have initiated two projects at JOOUST: Technology-enabled Learning (TEL) and Commonwealth Digital Education Leadership Training in Action (C-DELTA) with the main objective of improving the quality of learning by using technology and sharing educational resources.  I thank COL for the generous financial support extended to our School for the implementation of the two projects.

The School is also leading a research team on  Strengthening Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology Capacity in Natural Resource Management, Food Security, ICT and Health” which has been selected for entering the next stage in the IUC selection procedure. The Bureau UOS ratified the favourable selection advice of the VLIR-UOS IUC Selection Commission of 5- 6 December 2019 during its meeting of 18 December 2019.
