Dr. Angeline Ochung’-Orwa holds a Ph.D in Natural Products Chemistry from Maseno University. This research work set to carry out Phytochemical investigations of Locnhocarpus eriocalyx (Harms), Alysicarpus ovalifolius (Schumach), and Erythrina abyssinica (DC) for Antiplasmodial, Larvicidal, Mosquitocidal and Antimicrobial Activities under the guidance of Prof. Phillip Okinda Owuor and Prof. Lawrence Arot Manguro both of Maseno University. Dr. Angeline also holds M.Sc.-Phytochemistry from the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), B.Sc-Chemistry (1st Class Hons) from the University of Nairobi and Diploma in Science Education (1st Class Hons) from Kenya Science Teachers’ College. My research interest is in Ethnobotany, Chemistry of Medicinal Plants, biodiversity, conservation, Organic Synthesis and molecular derivatisation. There is an on-going Research which is geared towards Value Addition of the JOOUST Antibacterial Liquid Hand Wash whereby the study aims at improving the quality and effectiveness of this detergent through injecting the antibiotic principles isolated from a medicinal plant known to offer herbal remedies. I am an Alumna of the three Universities listed above and Kenya DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausdienst Scholars Association (KDSA). I am also a member of the following Professional bodies: International Network for Women Scientists and Engineers (INWES), African Women in Science and Engineering (AWSE), Natural Products Alert (NAPRALERT), Natural Products for Eastern and Central Africa (NAPRECA), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), African Women in Biosciences and Biosafety (AWfB), Kenya Chemical Society (KCS), Nyanza Education Women’s Initiative (NEWI).
