DEANS, CODS, DIRECTORS AND COORDINATORS trained on the role of Schools in University Governance

Deans, Chairmen of departments, Directors and Coordinators were taken through training on the Role of Schools in University Governance. The senior members of academics participated in the interactive platform that was geared towards improving governance and performance in the University.

During his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Agong’, said that the forum was an opportunity for the academic staff to create synergies and bond for the good of the entire University.

Among the topics they were taken through were Core Instruments of Governance in Public Universities, writing of Curriculum Vitae and developing a research University, the Mwongozo Code and Chapter 4 and 6 of the constitution as a guiding Principle in Leadership and Management of Public Institutions, the University Faculty as the embodiment of the Institution’s vision and mission, public procurement procedures and regulations and the role of user departments.

The workshop culminated in a powerful team building exercise that set to develop trust and emphasise the value of team work in building a winning Institution. The teams focused on three words that they felt were critical for developing a strong work environment. The words included love, attitude and word.

The workshop came to a close with the Vice Chancellor urging the academic staff members to exploit abilities and intellectual capabilities. He also appreciated the various talents on display by various presenters who included, the Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Research Innovation and Outreach, Prof. Benson Estambale Prof. Joseph Bosire, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Dr. Walter Akuno, Registrar Academic Affairs,CS Rosemary Ngesa, Registrar, (PA) Mr. Rodney Oluoch, the Legal Officer, Mr. Dickson Seda, Senior Procurement Officer and Ms. Ettah Ogalo
