The Office of the Dean of Students plans and directs university activities related to student services and campus life. Administratively, the office helps coordinate health services, financial aid, catering and accommodation, sports, and social programs for students. The office of a dean of students is generally responsible for serving as a point of information for students and responding to students' needs. Additionally, the office handles discipline-related processes and procedures and enforce University Rules and Regulations governing the organization, conduct and discipline of students.

The main function of the Dean of students’ office is to create an enabling environment for the student campus life. This entails provisions towards student wellness and making sure there is harmony among students and maintenance of good conduct and discipline towards each other and within the University premises and beyond.

Specific primary functions of the Office of the Dean of Students include: Guidance and Counseling; Complaints and Conflict resolution; Advisory role in Student Clubs and Association; HELB matters; Student Organization I.e. Elections and leadership training; Work Study Programme; Student Bereavement; Drama and Theatre activities; and University Student Choir.
