INTGEGRITY CHAMPIONS TRAINED AT JOOUST

 

JOOUST hosted the Nyanza regional integrity training workshop organized by two Universities, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, where 40 members of staff drawn from the two institutions have been trained as Integrity Assurance Officers.

While officially opening the training, the Chief Guest EACC Commissioner Rose M. Macharia commended the organizers of the training stating that integrity is a critical concern to any institution which is involved in service delivery. “Integrity is fundamental to everything else in an institution as it greatly influences its success.” Said Commissioner Rose. “I have gone through the objectives of this training and I believe that this training is a key step towards institutionalizing corruption prevention within your universities since it will expose you to important aspects of corruption prevention.” She added.

Speaking during the official opening of the training, Prof. Stephen Agong, the Vice Chancellor JOOUST urged the trainees to be ambassadors of good practices ensuring that integrity is upheld in service delivery within the institution and beyond. Prof. Agong’ assured guests from EACC of the institution’s commitment on ethics and integrity issues, stating that JOOUST has a committee in place that deals with such issues and reports to all levels of the University’s administration up to the council.

The training was purposely to equip trainees with knowledge, skills and tools with which to promote ethics, integrity and good governance in institutions of higher learning, and was coordinated by the directorate of Quality Enhancement and Assurance of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.
