Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology has put a lot of premium on ICT in order to ensure that students are able to reap maximum benefits from the e-learning platforms. This was the message from the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Agong’ when he delivered his first ever virtual address to the first year students.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the students of the dedication of the University Council and Management towards students’ welfare and told them that that was the most important priority. "Your security is the University's priority " Said Prof. Agong’. The Vice-Chancellor assured the students that as a science and technology university, the university is set and ready to go a notch higher as part and parcel of blended learning.

Prof. Agong’ reiterated that the Country needs more young people in positions that will enable them be movers of economic empowerment and the “big four” agenda. He urged the first year students to be independent thinkers in all aspects of their lives because learning is a continuous process. “Be better versions of yourselves through embracing virtues such as hard work, commitment and respect.” Said Prof Agong’.

Also addressing the students was the Deputy Vice –Chancellor Academic Affairs, Prof. Joseph Bosire and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Planning, Administration and Finance, Prof. Francis Ang’awa who welcomed the students to the University while assuring them of the right choice they had made. In attendance during the address were Members of the University Management Board, Deans, Directors, Chairpersons of Departments, Departmental heads and staff within the University.

The Vice-Chancellor’s address came after a whole week of orientation where the students were introduced to their Deans, Chairpersons’ of Departments and important functionalities of the University, virtually.
