The PS State Department of University Education and Research, Ambassador Simon Nabukwesi, has lauded the University for establishing an enterprise unit that spearheads the commercialization of research products. Amb. Nabukwesi was speaking when he visited the Institution as part of the National Steering Committee under ACE II, World Bank Funded Projects.

The National Steering Committee members paid a visit to the INSEFOODS Project to assess the progress made by the project so far. While opening the program, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Agong’ welcomed the team led by the Principal Secretary and thanked the Ministry of Education for the critical role it continues to pay in supporting not only the INSEFOODS Project but the University as a whole. “Since the establishment of the INSEFOODS Project, we have witnessed an immense impact that the project has had at the global stage.” The Research Hub that is under construction at Miyandhe was inspired by the INSEFOODS project.” Said Prof. Agong’.

While giving his remarks, the Principal Secretary Amb. Nabukwesi congratulated the Vice-Chancellor for attracting research funds while challenging Institutions to impact the immediate community by conducting outreach and marketing activities for research innovations. He also emphasized on the need for donor funded projects to be develop into self-sustaining initiatives through resource mobilization.

Present during the meeting were the Vice-Chancellors of Moi University Prof. Isaac Kosgey and Egerton University Prof. Isaac Kibwage, Mr. Darius Mogaka (MoE) and Mr. Paul Mungai (MoE), joining virtually was Ms. Ruth Charo of the World Bank. Others present were representatives from the Ministry of Education, JOOUST University Management members, center leaders and staff from other ACE IIs.
