JOOUST COUNCIL HOLDS INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH FACULTY, STAFF AND STUDENTS

The Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology Council held a staff interaction forum with the University staff and students as it reminisced over the year's achievements and challenges, on the 17th December 2021.

 The interactive luncheon which also served as a thanksgiving session was organized to appreciate staff and students and encourage them to deliver much more than they were able to deliver this year. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Agong’ and Council Chairman, Dr Jonah Kangogo reminisced the turbulent times that were occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of some staff members and students. “Let us put on the helmet of faith; we allow this kind of celebration knowing that we are here for a definitive period.” Said the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Agong’.

 While addressing the congregants, the Chairman of Council Dr Jonah Kangogo acknowledged that JOOUST is a Centre of excellence in many spheres including a powerhouse of talents as displayed by the students’ theatre and drama team presentations. “We appreciate the students for maintaining a very high-level discipline. We are all gathered here because of our students and grateful to our staff who have made JOOUST what it is today.” Said Dr Kangogo.

The Council through the Chairman urged members of staff to support various initiatives that seek to enhance service delivery including the digitization of services and commitment to initiatives aimed at climate change risk mitigation. On their part, the Council committed to making great milestones in ensuring the completion of capital projects so as to make JOOUST a world-class university and offer the best experience.

Council members present during the session were, Mr. Ibrahim Mutembei, Chairman Finance, Human Recourse and Administration, Mr. Zeth Omollo, Chairman, Technical, Academic, Research and Projects committee and Ms. Janet Nekesa, Chairperson Audit, Risk and Governance committee. The ceremony culminated with the issuance of trophies and certificates to the drama club students for their exemplary performance in the National drama festivals.
